Vodka is my preferred hard alcohol beverage, since it lacks most of the hangover-causing impurities that whiskey, tequila and rum posess, and also because it is comparitively tasteless, so it mixes well with other fluids in order to create innocuous-tasting drinks that will get you seriously drunk in short order. This is a good thing if, like me, you enjoy the effects of hard alcohol but not the taste.
In short, this node is dedicated to the beverages which the Noders of E2 have discovered mix well with vodka. My personal list goes as follows:
- POG. That is, Passion-Orange-Guava juice. The stuff that comes in half-gallon cartons and has a cute little furry creature emblazoned on it. This is, from what I've discovered, by far the best vodka mixer of all time. The stuff is amazing! I've put up to five shots of vodka in a glass, with an equal or slightly greater amount of POG, and not been able to taste the vodka. Understand that I was stone-cold sober at the time. Unfortunately, I was also stone-cold sober when I finished drinking the glass. My tolerance must have really gone up in the last two years.
- Sprite. I have a number of friends who swear by this one. I find that Sprite and Vodka (nicknamed "rocket fuel" by the folks at Freak Manor) ends up tasting like lime-flavored soda water with a bit more of a kick than I'd necessarily like. Not as good as POG, but it works.
- Coke. What can I say? Cola mixes well with just about anything.
- Vodka, straight. Every once in a while, you feel a small spot of masochism come on.
- Redbull. I've had Redbull, and I've had vodka, but I haven't actually had them together, so this is strictly secondhand... but I can imagine that they'd go well together, and the caffeine of Redbull would go a long way to counteract the sleepiness that alcohol induces, allowing one to party harder and longer. If that's your thing.
- Kahlua and cream. This drink is known as the "White Russian". Odd, considering White Russians are usually some shade of brown (depending on the Kahlua-to-cream ratio). Tasty, if you like thick, sweet drinks. I prefer my alcohol a bit lighter than this, personally, as creamy alcoholic drinks make me a tad nauseous. I can't get away from them, though, as they're my girlfriend's favorite drink.

Cream soda can work very well with vodka, but only if you get the amounts just right. I don't know the exact mixture needed, I usually go by the mix 'n sip method.

This sensation would taste great while still geting you totally smashed, I planned on calling the drink "the 'thrax". Unfourtunatly it was a horrible tasting mess that ended up wasting a bag of pixy stix, a liter of cream soda, and lots of vodka.

- Lemonade. This is my chosen poison. Known elsewhere as lemon soda, if mixed properly with nice vodka it produces an eminently drinkable, pleasant beverage that will mess you up quickly or stealthily. I have found Tesco's cloudy lemonade to be far better than 'normal' lemonade', if only because you can add more vodka without tasting it. This is mostly down to how much vodka you add to the glass. Personally, I have maybe an eighth of a pint glass (depending on my mood) of Smirnoff Blue Label or Stolichnaya Vanil and top the rest off with the lemonade. I usually pour a bit of lemonade in first, so the vod doesn't just sit at the bottom of the glass.
- Irn-Bru. The most popular soft drink in Scotland, Irn Bru mixed with vodka is something of an acquired taste. Definitely mix and sip, as a combination of cheap vodka and Irn Bru (always buy Barr Irn Bru, not inferior supermarket brands) will have a harsh, chemical taste. This, in fact, is why I cannot drink Irn Bru and vodka, as a night with a budget version of the mixture left me in considerable pain. Nevertheless, it was a very addictive, pleasant drink for when I fancied a change from lemonade.
- Cheap, rubbish lager. If the establishment you're in doesn't sell anything nice like Grolsch or Beck's or anything Czech; when you're forced to drink horse piss like Carling; then vodka can rescue you! Simply order a pint and a single or double. Drink some of the pint, dump in your shot(s) (NB: it is illegal for the barkeeper to do this for you) and swoosh it around to mix. Drink. Yes, you're still drinking crap, but soon you'll be too pissed to care.

Vodka Collins
Ingredients:
2 oz Vodka
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 tsp Powdered sugar
Carbonated water
1 Cherry
1 slice Orange
Mixing instructions:
Shake vodka, juice of lemon,
and powdered sugar with ice and
strain into a collins glass.
Add several ice cubes, fill with
carbonated water, and stir.
Decorate with slices of orange,
lemon, and top with the cherry.
Serve with a straw.

Scotch Highball
Ingredients:
2 oz Scotch
Carbonated water
1 twist of Lemon peel
Mixing instructions:
Pour scotch in a
highball glass over ice cubes.

stir, and serve.

Black Russian
Ingredients:
3/4 oz Coffee liqueur
1 1/2 oz Vodka
Mixing instructions:
Pour ingredients over ice cubes
in an old-fashioned glass and serve.

Tom Collins Recipe
4 oz gin
2 oz lemon juice
2 tsp superfine sugar 6 oz club soda
2 maraschino cherry 2 slice orange
In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes,
combine the gin, lemon juice, and sugar.
Shake well. Strain into a collins glass
alomst filled with ice cubes. Add the
club soda. Stir and garnish with the
cherry and the orange slice.
Makes 2 mixed drinks
Mai Tai
Ingredients:
1 oz Light rum
1/2 oz Orgeat syrup
1/2 oz Triple sec
1 1/2 oz Sweet and sour
1 Cherry
Shake all ingredients (except cherry)
with ice and strain into a collins
glass over several ice cubes.
Top with the cherry and serve.
Makes 1 mixed drink
Mansion Margarita Recipe
1 1/4 oz Gold tequila (Cuervo 1800)
3/4 oz Grand Marnier
3/4 oz Cointreau
1 1/4 oz Sweet and sour
Mixing instructions:
Mix above ingredients in a shaker.
Shake and serve on the rocks.
Makes 1 mixed drink
Margarita Mixed Drink
1 1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Triple sec
1 oz Lime juice
Salt
Rub rim of cocktail glass with lime juice,
dip rim in salt. Shake all ingredients with ice,
strain into the salt-rimmed glass, and serve.
Sangria Classic Mixed Drink Recipes
Juice of 1/2 Orange
1 bottle dry White wine
2 tblsp Sugar
1 oz Brandy
1 oz Cointreau
1/2 Orange in thin slices
1 Lemon in thin slices
2 cups Ice cubes
1 cup Club soda
Mixing instructions:
Combine orange juice, wine, sugar,
brandy and Cointreau.
Add lemon and orange slices. Chill.
To serve, add ice and club soda, stir gently.
Scotch And Water Mixed Drink Recipes
Ingredients:
4 oz Scotch
10 oz Water
Pour the Scotch and the water
into a highball glasses almost
filled with ice cubes. Stir well.
Makes 2 mixed drinks
Bloody Mary
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Vodka
3 oz Tomato juice
1 dash Lemon juice
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2-3 drops Tabasco sauce
1 wedge Lime
Mixing instructions:
Shake all ingredients (except lime wedge)
with ice and strain into an old-fashioned
glass over ice cubes.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add the wedge of lime and serve.
Makes 1 mixed drink.
Blue Margarita Mixed Drink
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Tequila
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz Lime juice
Coarse Salt
Mixing instructions:
Rub rim of cocktail glass with
lime juice. Dip rim in coarse salt.
Shake tequila, blue curacao, and
lime juice with ice, strain into
the salt-rimmed glass, and serve.
Bourbon Highball
Ingredients:
4 oz Bourbon
Carbonated water
2 twists of Lemon peel
Mixing instructions:
Pour bourbon into a highball glass over ice
cubes. Fill with carbonated water and stir.
Add the twist of lemon peel and serve.
(Ginger ale may be substituted
for carbonated water, if preferred.)
Makes 2 mixed drinks.
Scotch Cooler
2 ounces Scotch
2 dashes Bitters
Lemon-Lime Soda
Mint Sprig or Lime Slice
Mixing instructions:
In a collins glass combine
scotch and bitters.
Add soda and ice.
Stir well. Garnish with mint sprig.
Makes 1 mixed drink.
Scotch Sour
2 ounces Scotch
1 1/2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
3/4 teaspoon Superfine Sugar

Mixing instructions:
In old-fashioned glass combine ingredients
and serve over ice. Garnish with a slice
of lemon and cherry.
Makes 1 mixed drink.
Blind Russian Recipe
3/4 oz Bailey's Irish cream
3/4 oz Godiva chocolate liqueur
3/4 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
1/2 oz butterscotch schnapps
Fill with milk
Fill glass with ice cubes.
Add all liqueurs. Add milk. shake.
Makes 1 mixed drink.
Tequila Sunrise
Ingredients:
2 measures Tequila
Orange juice
2 dashes Grenadine
Mixing instructions:
Pour tequila in a highball glass with ice,
and top with orange juice. Stir.
Add grenadine by tilting glass and
pouring grenadine down side by flipping
the bottle vertically very quickly.
The grenadine should go straight to
the bottom and then rise up slowly
through the drink. Garnish stirrer,
straw and cherry-orange.
Makes 1 mixed drink.
White Russian #2
Ingredients:
1 jigger Vodka
1 oz white Creme de Cacao
1 oz Cream or milk
Mixing instructions:
Serve over ice cubes.
White Russian
Ingredients:
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Coffee liqueur
Light cream
Mixing instructions:
Pour vodka and coffee liqueur over
ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass.
Fill with light cream and serve.
Cuba Libra
Ingredients:
3 shot Dark rum
Squeeze fresh limes
Fill with Coca-Cola
Ice
Mixing instructions:
Fill tall glass with ice cubes.
Add rum. Rub cut edge of lime
on rim of glass then squeeze
juice into glass.
Fill with Coca-Cola.
Garnish with lime slice.

Malibu and Soda
Ingredients:
1 part Malibu rum
1 part Cola (Coke or Pepsi)
Mixing instructions:
Mix above ingredients in cup with ice.
Whiskey Sour
Ingredients:
2 oz Blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1/2 tsp Powdered sugar
1 Cherry
1/2 slice Lemon
Mixing instructions:
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon,
and powdered sugar with ice and strain
into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate

the cherry, and serve.
Gin Highball
Ingredients:
2 oz Gin
Carbonated water

Gin Gin
Ingredients:
1 part Gin
3 parts Ginger ale

Kentucky Wildcat Recipe
1/2 oz Jack Daniel's® Tennessee whiskey
1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur
1/2 oz Yukon Jack® Canadian whiskey
1/2 oz Jim Beam® bourbon whiskey
2 oz sweet and sour mix
2 oz Coca-Cola
Mixing instructions:
Pour ingredients over ice in a
highball glass, and stir gently.

Pina Colada Rum Mixed Drinks
3 oz. Rum
3 Tbsp. Coconut Milk
3 Tbsp. Crushed Pineapple
Place in an electric
blender with two cups of
crushed ice and blend at
high speed for a short time.

Put the juice of 1/2 Lime in glass,

Splash Cranberry juice
Mixing instructions:
Shake tequila, triple sec,
sweet & sour, cranberry juice,
and lime juice in a pint glass.
Rim another pint glass with
salt and transfer contents.
Float the Gran Marnier,
garnish with a lime and straw.
Bartender's Wet Dream
1,5 cl Grenadine

Mixing instructions:
Just put the ingredients in a
shot glass and put a little
bit of whipped cream on the top.
