Five-0 must find a young couple on vacation who's been kidnapped by an escaped convict. He's violent and he's looking for his stolen money. In the midst of it all, McGarrett's sister arrives from the mainland.

When Steve McGarrett's father is murdered, he decides to return home to Oahu in order to catch the killer. The governor offers him the opportunity to run a new task force where he is able to call the shots. Detective Steve McGarrett brings together his own team, beginning with Chin Ho Kelly; an ex-Honolulu Police Detective and former protégé of McGarrett's father. Kelly has been assigned to a federal security patrol after being suspected of corruption. Detective Danny "Danno" Williams is a New Jersey cop who recently moved to the island and is raising his 8-year-old daughter. Kono Kalakaua is Kelly's cousin and a rookie officer, fresh from the academy. McGarrett's team is given full backing from the governor and plays by their own rules. Less

Five-0 discovers a connection between Samoan gangs and a mainland mob after an escalating gang war wreaks havoc during a local high school football game.

Recap

The team are at a high school football game, and Danny has brought his daughter, Grace. Suddenly gunshots are fired on the field and everyone scatters. The team try to chase down the culprits, but when Chin tracks one of the fleeing men, once he sees his face, he lets him go.

The team figures out that the skirmish is the first public sign of an escalating war between the triads and the Samoan gangs. Chin goes to confront the man he met earlier, who happens to be his cousin and also a cop. It's revealed that he's working undercover for HPD, infiltrating the Samoan gang in order to take them down from the inside.

Meanwhile, Danny is struggling with his personal life, as his ex-wife is threatening to get sole custody of their daughter. The incident at the football game has convinced her that Danny is a trouble magnet and that Grace is in danger every time she's with him. Danny denies this is the case.

The Samoan gangs are receiving help (in the form of guns) from a mainland source, mafia members from New Jersey. The guns are being delivered inside pizza boxes, so Steve and Danny go to interrogate the owner of the pizza shop by sticking him in a shark cage (even though the sharks themselves are harmless). They find out that the mafia is trying to bring gambling to the islands, which is the only vice that hasn't been exploited yet. The team, with the help of Chin's cousin, infiltrate the mob's casino night and take down both the leader of the Samoan gang and the mafia crime family. After Chin saves his cousin's life during the shootout, they forge an uneasy truce.

Danny discovers that his ex-wife has dropped all action to take sole custody of Grace, and Danny suspects that Steve intervened with the help of the governor.
